A billion people across six continents live every day without an effective central government.

Some struggle with insecurity, starvation or effective water supplies, while others lack a central authorities that can bring light, sanitation and decent roads. 

The things you and I take for granted -- good jobs, a safe home, family around us largely free from tragedy, secure and united communities -- they only dream of. They yearn for a better future, and are prepared to work hard to bring it, but their efforts are frustrated. They need to see hope. 

The UNV Council On Collapsed Nations is that hope. We bring security, we bring aid, we bring the world's best administrators to help train the next generation of civil servants who can build the new world they hope for. 

But the UNVCOCN cannot do this alone. We need your support to help bring that hope to a needy world.

Firstly, we need your country's support for this desperately needed reinvigoration of our mission. Lobby your local member; lobby your government; help them understand what is at stake here and how you are convinced they can help. 

Secondly, we need your donations. 

The UNV does survive on the donations of member states, but these efforts are enormously expensive, and many countries, many of them UNVCOCN beneficiaries, struggle to fund us as they would hope to. 

Furthermore, we can do so much more than our present nation-based funding would allow. Building a school and staffing it is a good step, but what is a school without a full library, or an arts programme that can really invigorate the hopefulness of this lost generation?

Your skills are just what the needy so desperately need. Soldiers, doctors, nurse and teachers are certainly needed, but so are administrators, plumbers, electricians, expert farmers, factory supervisors, clerical workers and so many more.

A billion needy people means we need a million UNVCOCN staff to help provide those essential services and bring hope to the world.

Yes, this dream is ambitious. But, the experiment of humanity is ambitious. And we have an opportunity in this age to show all our respective Gods that we are worth their sacrifices, their nurturing and their hope, that when the need was greatest, we could look past creed, colour and religion and declare, in hopeful voice, "Someone is in need. I will help."
